What this residence is
Spain's Startups Law (Ley 28/2022) introduced a residence permit for international teleworking, in force since 2023. It is aimed at non-EU nationals who work remotely for companies located outside Spain, and at freelancers whose clients in Spain make up only a limited share of their work.
General conditions
- A real remote working relationship with a company or clients outside Spain.
- Relevant qualifications or professional experience in your field.
- Sufficient income, calculated with reference to the Spanish minimum wage.
- Health insurance and a clean criminal record.
You can apply at a Spanish consulate or, if you are already legally in Spain, request it as a residence authorisation from within the country, and family members can be included. Requirements and amounts are assessed case by case, so we review your situation before any step.
