Your Guide to the EBAU/PCE at UNED

Useful information about the EBAU/PCE university entrance exam at UNED, so you understand its role in your admission and can prepare with confidence.

The university entrance exam

We help you prepare for the university entrance exam and give you the key information about the EBAU/PCE exam organised by UNED.

In Spain, students usually enter university after passing an entrance exam whose name varies by region and year, such as EBAU, EvAU or PAU. For students with a secondary school qualification from a foreign education system, UNED handles their file through its UNEDasiss service and organises the specific competence tests (PCE), which allow them to obtain or raise their admission score.

What the exam involves

  • The admission score at Spanish universities is out of 14: up to 10 from the general mark and up to 4 extra from subjects weighted by each degree.
  • You choose your subjects according to the degree you want, so it pays to plan them early.
  • The route depends on the country where you obtained your qualification, and in some cases your secondary school certificate must be homologated.
  • Details change from year to year, so we review each case individually.

Exam dates

The university entrance exam is held in two sittings each year:

  • Ordinary sitting: in late spring, in May or June.
  • Extraordinary sitting: in September, with the date confirmed each year.

Exam length

Each subject exam lasts an hour and a half.
