University admission

Getting into a Spanish university follows clear steps, and the route depends on your certificate and on whether the university is public or private. We organise the steps and the dates with you.

Admission steps

  • Choosing the degree and the university, public or private.
  • Homologation of your school-leaving certificate, or UNEDasiss accreditation for some certificates.
  • PCE tests when needed to raise your admission grade.
  • Pre-enrolment (Preinscripción) at public universities within the dates set by each region, usually in summer.
  • Proof of Spanish or English level depending on the language of the programme.
  • After admission: the student visa file and health insurance.

Private universities have their own admission process, which is often quicker and open for longer. Master's and PhD programmes have different requirements based on your university degree.
