What a grado is
In Spain a bachelor's degree is called a grado. Programmes follow the European Higher Education Area framework, use ECTS credits and combine theory with practical work, often including internships. They are offered by public universities, where most programmes are taught in Spanish, and by private universities, which often offer more programmes in English.
Who it is for
A grado is for students who have finished secondary school, or its equivalent, and want a full university degree. International students can apply to both public and private universities, but the admission route differs between them.
What usually matters
Public universities admit students according to their admission grade, so you will usually need the UNEDasiss accreditation or the homologation of your school certificate, and often the PCE tests for competitive degrees. Private universities set their own admission process, which may include an interview or an internal test. For programmes taught in Spanish, proof of language level is common. Once admitted, you will need a study visa, with translated and legalized documents, health insurance and proof of financial means.
